Meadowlane Primary School

Meadowlane Primary School was built in 1995 as part of the development of St. Mellons on the eastern side of Cardiff. The school building has accommodation for 500 pupils but as the school currently holds 308 pupils, two rooms of the building are hired out to ‘Families Learning Together’ agency. The school has a Nursery unit attached with a capacity of 72 children on a part-time basis. Extensive school grounds include many outdoor learning areas and allotments. There is also a multi-purpose flood lit astro turf which the children use for their games lessons and is also hired out in the evenings until 9 pm. The school offers many after school clubs such as football, rugby, netball, gardening and indoor clubs such as lego, sewing, Chinese, etc.

Display Energy Certificate

Since 9 January 2013 public buildings in the UK over 500m2 have been required to display a Display Energy Certificate (DEC) prominently at all times. Display Energy Certificates were introduced by the Government in response to the EU Energy Performance of Buildings Directive which all EU member states were required to implement by January 2009.

DECs are designed to promote the improvement of the energy performance of buildings. They are based upon the actual energy performance of a building and increase transparency about the energy efficiency of public buildings. DECs use a scale from A to G with A being the most efficient and G the least. The Display Energy Certificate for Meadowlane Primary School is available here or by clicking the plaque on the right.
