On NHS Sustainability day we asked for your ideas, questions and suggestions about sustainability at GOSH, and you certainly stepped up to the challenge!
A total of 113 ideas and questions were submitted from across the trust. The info-graphic below shows the breakdown of what you said.
With 31 mentions, lighting has come out as the key area. We have been putting a lot of effort into improving lighting across the Trust such as the halo lights in the main stairwells and the x-ray department’s upgrade and there is more to come this year. All of our new lights are energy saving LEDs and we install presence sensors where it is suitable.
The second most popular subject is building management which received 17 mentions and we have loads of great ideas to explore such as solar panels on the roof to rainwater harvesting for our urinals. The third most popular subject was turning things off, such as PC’s. We are currently investigating automatically switching off idle PC’s without causing an inconvenience to the user.
If you didn’t manage to catch us at the event you can continue submitting your sustainability ideas and questions through submitting your online Postcards.
Some of your excellent questions have already been answered in the CarbonCulture Blog, check in every week to read new updates!
We will also be working with you to help make some of your ideas a reality. There will be lots of ways to get involved through the CarbonCulture website, which can take as little (or as much!) time as you would like to contribute. In the meantime you can read the great sustainability Stories from across the trust, submit your own and send us feedback messages with your thoughts.
We want you to help shape the programme to make sure it meets your needs.
