One Planet Cardiff saw 12 Primary and 2 High Schools take part in a workshop at the WMC. Primary schools enjoyed workshops on Energy, Waste, One Planet & Travel. High school workshops were on Energy/Electricity, Food/ Waste.

Cardiff Council says:

22 Schools took part in the electricity reduction campaign “Turn Down for 10 Days” in May 2013. The schools saved12% during the fortnight (£590). Creigiau Primary were most successful with an 18% reduction. The campaign will be run again in October!

Cardiff Council is due to embark on delivering one of the largest Archimedean hydro power schemes in the UK. The 391 kW scheme in Radyr is predicted to produce enough renewable energy to power the equivalent of 5 of the Authority’s Leisure Centres.
